30 days left!

Why do people clean up their houses obsessively before they leave for vacation?
Answer: Most experts would say it's due to our psychological habits of making sure loose ends are all neatly tied up, but I can tell you they are wrong. The real reason that people clean their houses before leaving is that they don't want to feel guilty in case someone breaks into their house while they're away and sees the house a mess. It's an honor thing, I guess. The burglar could think one of two things: either 1) "Dammit, now it's gonna take me even LONGER to sort through this stuff! Screw this!" (and thus the homeowners risk disappointing their guest), or 2) "Out of all the houses I've visited tonight, I'd rate this house a 1 out of 10."

It's that 1 out of 10--losing the neighborly competition and a feeling of being the least sought-after house--that's always in the back of people's minds when they're like "omg I'm in Siberia and I forgot to hide that pile of laundry! What will THEY think??" (They being those ubiquitous, unknown, yet all-knowing hypothetical people we all know and love.)

So anyway, I guess the point that I'm trying to make is that I really don't want to clean my room.
